Help Us Make the Magic Happen – Volunteers Needed for the 11th Annual Merion Village Festival6/24/2025 The countdown is on! The 11th Annual Merion Village Festival returns to Moeller Park on Sunday, August 24th from 12 to 6 PM, and this year is extra special--we’re celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Merion Village Association!
This free, outdoor event is packed with local artists and makers, nonprofit organizations, food trucks, live music, a beer garden, family fun, and a much-anticipated silent auction. Best of all, every dollar raised helps fuel the work of the MVA all year long. But here’s the truth: this event doesn’t happen without volunteers like you. The Merion Village Association is entirely volunteer-based, and the Festival is our biggest undertaking of the year. From planning and prep to setup and teardown, we need helping hands before, during, and after the event. Whether you’ve volunteered before or are looking for a new way to give back, this is your moment to jump in. How You Can Help: 👉 Silent Auction Donation Coordination (NOW–Mid August) We’re assembling one-of-a-kind baskets and items for this year’s silent auction—and we need help reaching out to local businesses. Most of this role is conducted via email and can be done from home on your own schedule. Want to help? Email us at [email protected] 👉 Distribute Door Hangers (Aug 1–10) Help us spread the word about the Festival by delivering 3,000 door hangers throughout Merion Village. It’s a great way to get your steps in, enjoy the neighborhood, and maybe even meet a few neighbors. The neighborhood is divided into 21 groups, so you can pick the area (or areas) that work best for you. Claim your Group(s) Now! 👉 Day-Of Festival Volunteers (Sunday, August 24th) This is our “all hands on deck” day! We have over 70 volunteer shifts throughout the day—everything from setting up tents and signs, to helping vendors find their spots, to coordinating volunteers, pouring beers, and assisting with breakdown. Volunteering for even just one shift helps immensely! Want to do more than one? You’re welcome to sign up for multiple non-overlapping shifts. Claim Your Shift(s) Now! Let’s Make 40 Years Count Whether you’ve lived here for a decade or just moved in, the Festival is a true community celebration—and volunteering is one of the best ways to be part of it. We know your time is valuable, and we promise your efforts will make a big impact. Let’s come together to make this 40th anniversary year the best festival yet. Questions? Reach out any time at [email protected]. We’re happy to help match you with a role that works for your schedule and interests. Thank you for being the heartbeat of this neighborhood. We can’t wait to celebrate with you! 💚 This year marks a significant milestone for the Merion Village Association (MVA), as we celebrate our 40th anniversary! Our association, founded by a group of passionate neighborhood residents on April 23rd, 1985, has worked tirelessly over the years to bring the community together. We’re excited to mark this special occasion with a fantastic lineup of annual events, and we hope to connect with both new and familiar faces throughout the year. As a 100% volunteer-based organization, the MVA relies on the support of our community members to bring these events to life. Whether you’ve been with us for years or are just getting involved, we would love for you to help make this the best year yet. Below, we’ve compiled a list of this year’s annual events and committee-based volunteer opportunities. If you’re interested in volunteering, please don’t hesitate to reach out! Committee & Project Volunteer OpportunitiesBeautification Committee Volunteers work to create, improve, and maintain beautification projects throughout Merion Village. This may include community clean-ups and other creative ideas. Volunteers are needed to brainstorm and organize these projects, which are often supported by MVA and local grants. Membership Committee The Membership Committee focuses on expanding outreach and building the MVA’s membership by engaging with both residents and businesses in and around Merion Village. Volunteers are needed to develop strategies to promote the MVA and engage the local community. Social Committee The Social Committee is dedicated to connecting neighbors and strengthening the community through MVA-sponsored social events and activities. Volunteers are needed to plan and organize gatherings for people of all ages, from casual get-togethers to larger celebrations. We hope you’ll consider joining us in making this a memorable year for Merion Village! With your help, we can continue fostering a vibrant, connected community. Together, let’s make the 40th anniversary of the MVA a year to remember! Thank you for being a great neighbor! Hi neighbors! This year we’re celebrating the 10th Annual Merion Village Festival on Sunday, August 25th, 2024, and we absolutely can’t make it happen for the nearly 2,500 neighbors and visitors we’re expecting to come by Moeller Park without your help!
Volunteers are needed for a wide array of roles, from setup and teardown, to beer tent attendant and vendor relief. Whether you prefer an active, using-your-hands role, or a less physically-demanding position, there’s a spot we would love to fill with your name! Volunteer roles are generally broken up into two- or three-hour shifts, leaving you with plenty of time to enjoy the Festival before or after a shift. Plus, volunteers can choose between a Merion Village t-shirt or (for volunteers aged 21+) a festival mug and drink token. If you’re interested in volunteering the day of the Festival, please visit https://volunteersignup.org/8P8FR to sign up for one (or more) shifts! Because there are so many roles to fill, this is a great volunteering event for youth groups or school classes that require volunteer hours—we’re happy to accommodate large groups and can provide volunteering hour attestation letters. Invite family or friends to sign up, help out, and enjoy the day together—the more the merrier! Additionally, volunteers are needed at the start of August to help pass out door hangers across the neighborhood. If you’re interested in grabbing a stack of hangers to pass out along your usual walking route or just along your street, visit https://volunteersignup.org/3PAJR to claim a route! More information is to come for both roles, but we thank you in advance for giving your time and energy to our neighborhood! For any questions, please reach out to [email protected]. Neighbors! This summer we’re celebrating the 25th annual Merion Village Garden Tour, and we need your help to make it the best one yet!
On Sunday, July 14th, homes across Merion Village will open their front and back yards to welcome visitors to gardens big and small, new and long-lived. It’s a wonderful time to meet neighbors, swap gardening tips and tricks, enjoy (what is hopefully) a beautiful day walking around the neighborhood, and even get design inspiration for your own projects! Apart from all of the hospitality, love, and care neighbors show in opening their doors (and gates!) to the community, you might not know that a good deal of planning and prep work goes into making sure the Garden Tour can go off without a hitch, and that’s where you and the Merion Village Association come into play! Whether you want to help coordinate business sponsorship outreach, plan garden (and non-garden) stops and activities, or just help the day-of the event, volunteers are what make the Garden Tour possible. The Merion Village Association is actively recruiting volunteers of all ages, skills, and abilities to assist with most facets of the Garden Tour, from prep work to grunt work, and would love if you’d consider getting involved! If you’re looking to get plugged into the neighborhood and asking local businesses to support a community-building event, recruiting neighbors to showcase their gardens, or assisting with spreading the word about the Garden Tour sounds interesting to you, please reach out to [email protected] and we’ll make sure to answer any questions and bring you aboard! Thank you in advance! You can also view our online volunteer signup roster for the Garden Tour HERE.
